Vertical Shorts on Your Own Short-Form Video Platform

Publish vertical short-form videos next to your films and series, with the same editor, publishing and monetization, under your own brand.

Add Short-Form Video to Your Streaming Service

Vodlix Shorts adds short-form vertical video to your streaming service, so you do not need a second short-form video platform. Shorts are 9:16 clips, such as highlights, news updates, teasers and behind-the-scenes moments. They sit next to your films and series and use the same upload, editing, publishing and monetization. Creators, newsrooms, sports clubs and entertainment brands can publish them under their own brand and keep viewers on their own service.

Vertical Short Videos Made for Phone Screens

Shorts are vertical videos in the 9:16 shape of a phone held upright, so each clip fills the screen. You upload a 9:16 video and a portrait thumbnail, and the short is ready for mobile viewers without cropping a landscape picture. The shorts series takes portrait artwork too, so its cover matches the clips inside it. The format suits a goal from last night's match, a one-minute news update, a recipe step or a backstage moment from a show.

The Vodlix shorts API in a browser: GET /api/shorts/series/248/episodes returning a short with its title, duration, portrait thumbnail, watch URL and volume number

Deliver Short-Form Video to Your Apps With the Shorts API

Your apps can load shorts straight from the Vodlix REST API. The API lists every shorts series, its volumes and each short, with its title, length, portrait thumbnail and watch link. That means your mobile apps or a custom front end can show the same shorts your team publishes, with no second system to keep in sync.

Manage All Your Short-Form Videos in One Tab

All your short-form videos live on one Shorts tab in the Vodlix CMS, next to Movies, TV Shows, Trailers and Live TV. The list shows each shorts series with its number of volumes and how it earns money, and one button starts a new series. Search, filters, featured and bulk actions work the same way as for the rest of your catalogue, so the team that runs your films can run your shorts too.

Turn On Short-Form Video With One Setting

You turn Shorts on with a single setting, and the Shorts tab appears in your admin. The switch is called Enable Short Content and sits in your display settings. There is nothing to install and no separate account. If you do not publish short-form video, leave it off and your admin stays uncluttered.

Upload Short Videos in Bulk and Group Them Into Volumes

You can upload many shorts at once and group them into volumes, the way a TV show groups episodes into seasons. Drop several files in and each one becomes its own short, or add a single short and edit it straight away. Each short goes live once it has finished processing, one at a time or all together. A volume can be a weekly drop, a tournament or a season of a show, whatever fits how you publish.

Turn an Existing Series Into Shorts and Monetize It

Any series you already have can become a shorts series with one switch, and everything in it moves across. The same screen sets how the series earns money: free with ads (AVOD), part of a subscription (SVOD) or pay per title (TVOD). So your shorts can bring in revenue the same way as the rest of your catalogue.

Frequently Asked Questions

Have questions about taking advantage of this limited-time offer? Check out the FAQ for answers.

Does Vodlix support short-form vertical video?
Yes. Vodlix Shorts lets you publish vertical 9:16 videos as shorts series, grouped into volumes. They are managed in the same CMS as your films and series, with the same upload, publishing and monetization.
Do I need a separate short-form video platform?
No. Shorts live in the same Vodlix admin as your films, series and live channels, on their own tab. Your team publishes them with the tools it already uses, under your own brand.
How do I turn on Shorts in Vodlix?
Open Settings, then Display & Listing, then the Content tab, and switch on Enable Short Content. The Shorts tab then appears in Content Manager, where you can create your first shorts series.
Can I turn an existing series into Shorts?
Yes. In the series editor, open Monetization and switch on the option that marks the series as a Shorts series. The series moves to the Shorts tab with its volumes and videos intact.
Can I make money from short-form videos?
Yes. A shorts series has the same monetization settings as any series, so it can follow your platform default or be free with ads (AVOD), part of a subscription (SVOD) or paid per title (TVOD).
What video format should shorts be?
Vertical 9:16. Shorts are made for phones held upright, so upload 9:16 video and a portrait thumbnail to avoid cropping.
Can my mobile app show Shorts through the API?
Yes. The Vodlix API lists shorts series, their volumes and each short with its title, length, portrait thumbnail and watch link, so a mobile app or a custom front end can show them.
