Dacast pricing, as published on Dacast's pricing page when we read it on November 4, 2026, is $39 a month for Starter, $63 a month for Event and $165 a month for Scale. Each is billed annually. A fourth plan, Custom, has no published price: you contact Dacast for a quote.

A price list looks simple. A monthly fee. A bandwidth number. A storage number.

The practical question is therefore not which plan has the lowest fee. It is: what will you pay once your viewers, your hours and your paid viewing are counted?

This page works that out. It sets out each Dacast plan, the costs that grow with use, three worked examples, and a side-by-side table with Vodlix's published plans.

How much does Dacast cost? Plans and prices (read November 4, 2026)

Dacast costs $39, $63 or $165 a month on its Starter, Event and Scale plans, billed annually. That is $468, $756 or $1,980 for the year (our arithmetic). The Custom plan is quoted on request. These figures come from dacast.com/pricing, read on November 4, 2026, in US dollars.

Read the plan cards and the feature table on that page together before you buy. The feature table lower on the same page shows $29, $99 and $199 a month for Starter, Event and Scale, without saying which billing those cover.

Dacast's page also offers a free 14-day trial. Its blog's trial box, read the same day, says the trial comes with 10 GB of bandwidth.

What does each Dacast plan include, and what costs extra?

Each Dacast plan includes live streaming and video on demand hosting. Each step up adds tools such as a paywall, ads, DRM and more team members. Dacast names add-ons at an additional charge (Multi-CDN and China delivery) and extra team seats at $10 per user a month. It publishes no overage rate for bandwidth.

Here is what the plan cards list, in Dacast's own words where it matters:

  • Starter ($39 a month, billed annually): live streaming, full 1080p HD broadcasting and a transcoding allowance of 2x storage. It lists 3 live transcoding channels and 5 hours of simulcast. It also has video hosting, domain and country restriction, advanced analytics and 24/7 support. Multi-CDN and China Live and VOD "are not supported" on Starter.

  • Event ($63 a month, billed annually): everything in Starter, plus live stream monitoring, video availability scheduling and a live countdown. It adds a paywall and pre, mid and post roll advertising. It lists 10 live transcoding channels and 10 hours of simulcast.

  • Scale ($165 a month, billed annually): everything in Event, plus VOD chapter markers, DRM and AES for VOD, and advanced library management. It lists 3 team members, a player CNAME, phone support and 28 hours of simulcast.

  • Custom (quoted): everything in Scale, plus m3u8 links for live channels and VOD, custom SLAs, migrations and integrations, large-scale events and 5 team members.

What costs extra, as the page words it:

  • Multi-CDN, China Live and China Streaming for VOD "are supported as add-ons. Add-ons are available for an additional charge." No price is shown.

  • Team seats: "Additional team member seats can be purchased for $10 per user per month."

  • Paywall, advertising and phone support are marked "Add On" in some columns of the feature table, so check which plan includes them before you buy.

  • Bandwidth: each plan has an allowance. The page's calculator turns your viewers, minutes and bitrate into data and recommends a plan, and points high volume to Custom. It does not state a price per GB over the allowance.

What will Dacast really cost you? Three worked examples

For most buyers, bandwidth decides the Dacast plan, not features. At 1.2 Mbps, the default bitrate in Dacast's own calculator, one viewer watching one hour uses about 0.54 GB. Multiply that by your viewers and hours, and you know which allowance you need.

The figures below are illustrative arithmetic, not a quote from either company.

Grow, $299 a month (web); Pay as You Grow (PAYG) Apps, our plan billed per active subscriber, $794 a month (apps); Professional, $1,550 a month (apps and live)

The first two buyers want live streaming on their own website. For them, Dacast's published plans cost a fraction of Vodlix's, because Vodlix's live streaming starts on the Professional plan at $1,550 a month.

The third buyer is different. Dacast says its HTML5 player "can be embedded in your mobile app, smart TV app, or on your website". That means the apps are yours to build, and the pricing page lists no price for them. With Vodlix, PAYG Apps works out at $299 plus 500 x $0.99, so $794 a month, with your own iOS and Android apps, but subscriptions only. Grow, at $299 a month, sells subscriptions, rentals, pay-per-view and ads on the web with 5 TB of bandwidth a month.

Dacast vs Vodlix pricing: a side-by-side table

Dacast's plans start lower and include live streaming from $39 a month, billed annually. Vodlix's plans start at $0 a month on Pay as You Grow, include branded apps from $299 a month, and include live streaming from $1,550 a month. As Professional

Pay as You Grow is Vodlix's plan billed per active subscriber: no platform fee, $0.99 per active subscriber a month, and Vodlix takes no cut of your revenue. After the first three billing periods there is a 30-subscriber minimum, $29.70 a month.

Two differences matter more than the fee. Dacast states bandwidth per year or up front; Vodlix states it per month. And on Vodlix's Launch, Grow and Scale plans, if you go over an allowance, Vodlix tells you first and you choose a one-month top-up or a bigger plan.

When is Dacast the right fit, and when is it not?

Dacast is the better fit when you mainly stream live, to your own website or an embed, without your own branded apps. A Vodlix plan fits when you want branded apps and several ways to sell in one system. Those are subscriptions, rentals, pay-per-view and ads.

Choose Dacast if:

  • you stream services, classes or events live and embed the player on your site;

  • your budget is under $200 a month and your audience fits a 2.4 TB to 24 TB yearly allowance;

  • you need delivery into China, which Dacast offers as an add-on.

Choose Vodlix if:

  • you want your own iOS and Android apps, and later TV apps, under your brand;

  • you sell on-demand video through subscriptions (SVOD), rentals and purchases (TVOD), pay-per-view (PPV) and ads (AVOD);

  • you need live, linear TV and FAST channels next to that catalog, from the Professional plan.

  8. End: Vodlix Launch, Grow or Scale

    Web only, $99 to $499 a month, no live.

  9. End: Vodlix Professional or above

    Apps, live and FAST channels, from $1,550 a month.

What do you get with Vodlix at each price point?

Vodlix plans come in three groups. Pay as You Grow is billed per active subscriber. Web + API has a fixed fee without native apps, from $99 a month. Apps+ has a fixed fee with branded apps, live TV and FAST channels, from $1,550 a month. Prices are as of November 2026.

  • Pay as You Grow ($0 a month plus $0.99 per active subscriber): a web player and REST API, subscriptions only, 250 GB storage and 2 TB bandwidth a month.

  • Launch ($99 a month or $990 a year): a white-label web and mobile-web player on your own domain, with subscriptions, rentals, pay-per-view and ads. Video up to HD 1080p, 100 GB storage and 500 GB bandwidth a month.

  • Grow ($299 a month): everything in Launch, 5 TB bandwidth a month and 500 GB storage, video up to 2K, a REST API, gift cards, AI subtitling and free concierge migration.

  • Scale ($499 a month or $4,990 a year): everything in Grow, 25 TB bandwidth a month and 2 TB storage, video up to 4K, a headless API, AI dubbing and priority support.

  • PAYG Apps ($299 a month plus $0.99 per active subscriber): everything in Pay as You Grow plus native iOS and Android apps, 1 TB storage and 10 TB bandwidth a month, subscriptions only.

  • Professional ($1,550 a month or $15,500 a year): your own iOS and Android apps, live streaming, linear TV and FAST channels, and multi-DRM subject to Vodlix's terms. 50 TB bandwidth a month and 5 TB storage.

  • Business ($2,450 a month): everything in Professional, plus Android TV and Fire TV apps, 75 TB bandwidth a month and 7 TB storage.

  • Enterprise ($3,850 a month): everything in Business, plus Apple TV and Roku apps, and LG and Samsung apps on agreed terms. It adds an SLA, a dedicated account manager, 100 TB bandwidth a month and 10 TB storage.

Check the numbers for your own audience

A Vodlix streaming expert works through your viewers, hours and money models with you, free.

How do you move from Dacast without losing viewers?

You move without losing viewers by running both services side by side until your library, your paid plans and your audience are on the new one, then switching links. On Vodlix's Grow plan, free concierge migration is included. On the Apps+ plans you bring your own streams for live channels.

  1. List what you have. Your videos, live channels, paywall prices and the pages where your player is embedded.

  2. Rebuild your offers first. Set your subscription, rental and pay-per-view prices on the new platform before anyone moves.

  3. Move the library. On Grow, Vodlix's concierge migration does this with you.

  4. Run both for one billing cycle. Keep your Dacast embed live while you test the new site and apps.

  5. Switch links and tell viewers. Update your website, emails and social links, then let your Dacast plan end at its renewal date.

The 14-day free trial includes the apps, so you can see your own branded apps before you commit. If you would like to check the numbers for your audience, book a free meeting with a Vodlix streaming expert.

FAQs

How much does Dacast cost per month?

Dacast lists Starter at $39 a month, Event at $63 a month and Scale at $165 a month, each billed annually, on its pricing page as read on November 4, 2026. Custom plans for high volume are quoted on request.

Does Dacast have a free trial?

Yes. Dacast's pricing page offers a free 14-day trial. Its blog's trial box, read on November 4, 2026, says the trial includes 10 GB of bandwidth, so plan a small test rather than a full event.

Does Dacast charge for bandwidth overage?

Dacast sets a bandwidth allowance for each plan, from 2.4 TB a year on Starter to 24 TB a year on Scale. Its pricing page, read on November 4, 2026, does not publish a price per GB over that allowance and points high-volume users to a Custom plan, so ask Dacast before you sign.

Is there a cheaper alternative to Dacast with branded apps?

Dacast's pricing page lists no branded app price: its player embeds in apps you build. Vodlix includes your own iOS and Android apps on PAYG Apps, at $299 a month plus $0.99 per active subscriber for subscriptions only, and on Professional at $1,550 a month with live streaming, as of November 2026. Which costs less depends on what building your own apps would cost you.

Which Dacast plan includes a paywall and ads?

Dacast's Event plan card, at $63 a month billed annually, lists a paywall and pre, mid and post roll advertising, and Scale includes everything in Event. The feature table on the same page marks the paywall and advertising as add-ons in some columns, so confirm with Dacast which plan includes them.
