Put your streaming service on Amazon Fire TV as your own app, with your logo and your catalogue, set up from your Vodlix admin.
With the Vodlix Fire TV app builder, your viewers get your own app on Fire TV: your name and logo in the launcher, your films and series on the home screen, and sign-in with their phone instead of the remote. Broadcasters and OTT services launch it without an Android development team. You fill in the settings and artwork in the Vodlix admin, and the app runs on the same catalogue and subscriber accounts as your website. The same admin also covers your Android TV, Apple TV, Samsung, LG and Roku apps. Fire TV is included on the Business and Enterprise plans.

No typing with the remote.

Every film and series in your Fire TV app gets its own page, and viewers move around it with the remote alone. The page shows the synopsis, year, age rating, picture quality and genre. Below that, the buttons sit in one column: Play, More Like This, Add to My List and Credits & More Info. Viewers can also rate the title here. The text and artwork come from the title you publish once in Vodlix, so the page matches your website and mobile apps.
Viewers control playback in your Fire TV app with the remote alone. Pressing OK pauses the film and shows the controls: the title's artwork, a progress bar with time watched and time left, and skip back, play and skip forward buttons. Go Back returns to the title page. Pressing up shows a strip of preview frames, so viewers can see where a skip will land before they jump. Read more about trick play thumbnails.
Viewers sign in to your Fire TV app by scanning a QR code with their phone, so nobody has to type a password with the remote. The sign-in screen shows the QR code and a short code. The viewer scans it, or opens your site's /mytv page on any phone or computer, enters the code and signs in there. The TV then signs in to the same account and subscription. Viewers can still use email and password on the TV if they prefer. Your mobile app can offer TV sign-in too, and you can hide that option if you do not want it.
You set up your Fire TV app in the Vodlix admin by filling in a short form, with no Android code to write. The Fire TV tab sits next to your iOS, tvOS, Android, Android TV and Roku apps. You enter the app name and package name, upload the signing files, and add your Amazon Appstore link once the app is listed. Vodlix builds the Fire TV app from these settings and handles publishing. The app uses the same catalogue, content lists and subscribers as your website, so a title you publish once appears on Fire TV too. See how apps are managed from one screen and how one configuration produces every app build.
You add your logo and the Fire TV launcher icon in the Vodlix admin, so your app looks like yours from the Fire TV home screen onward. Amazon requires a 1280 × 720 launcher icon. You can also add a 512 × 512 app icon, a 114 × 114 small icon and splash screens. If you have already set artwork for another app, you can copy it across instead of starting again. The panel also lists anything still missing before you can publish. Read more about branding across web, mobile and TV.
Your Fire TV app can show your support contact details as text, because viewers on a TV cannot click a help link. You write the text once in the Vodlix settings: a help address, a support email or a phone number. It is a platform setting, so changing it does not need an app update. The settings also include the apps' screensaver interval, the idle time before the screensaver starts.
Your Fire TV app shares one catalogue with all your other TV apps. The same films, subscribers and watch progress also run your Android TV app, your Apple TV app, your Roku channel, and your Samsung Tizen and LG webOS apps, alongside your mobile apps. On the Business plan, Fire TV comes with Android TV; Enterprise adds Apple TV, Roku, Samsung and LG. See every TV app Vodlix offers or compare plans and pricing.
