Rate every title by age, show the rating to viewers, keep each profile to the titles rated for it and set a minimum age for new accounts.
Parental controls on a streaming platform make sure each viewer sees only what suits their age. In Vodlix you give every title a maturity level (All, 7+, 13+, 16+ or 18+), an MPAA rating and content rating tags such as Violence or Language. Viewers see the age rating on the title before they press play. Each profile on an account has its own maturity level, so a Kids profile only shows titles rated for it. You can also ask for a date of birth at signup and set a minimum age for new accounts. It suits family, kids and faith platforms and broadcasters, and gives compliance teams one clear place where every rating is set.
All, 7+, 13+, 16+ and 18+.
Each profile has its own limit.
Date of birth at signup.
Every title shows its age rating where viewers decide what to watch. The maturity level, such as 13+, sits on the home page billboard and in the title details, with the MPAA rating, such as PG-13, right beside it. Parents can tell at a glance whether a film or show suits their family before anyone presses play. The badges come straight from the ratings you set in the admin, so there is nothing extra to design or maintain.
A Kids profile only shows the titles rated within its maturity level. Set a child's profile to 7+ and titles rated 13+, 16+ or 18+ stay out of their way, while everything rated All or 7+ is there to watch. Parents share one subscription with their children without handing them the whole catalogue. The limit works on titles that carry a maturity level, so rate your catalogue as you publish it.
Each profile on an account has its own maturity level, chosen when the profile is added or edited. One subscription can hold a parent's profile open to everything, a teenager's at 13+ and a child's at 7+, and Account Settings shows the level under each profile. A 4-digit PIN locks the adult profiles so a child cannot switch into them, on the web and in the mobile and TV apps. See Profile Selection for everything else profiles do.
You can add a date of birth field to your signup form and set a minimum age for registration. New viewers pick their birth date when they create an account, and signups below the age you set are refused. It is a simple age gate for services that must keep younger children from opening accounts of their own. The field and the minimum age are switched on in the admin, with no code.
Content ratings are set on each title in the admin, next to its categories and tags. Pick a maturity level (All, 7+, 13+, 16+ or 18+), an MPAA rating (G, PG, PG-13, R, NC-17, or NR and UR for titles that are not rated), and content rating tags that say why: Nudity, Violence, Drugs, Mature, Language, Substances or Humor. Series and their episodes use TV ratings such as TV-14 and TV-MA instead of film ratings, and live channels carry a maturity level too. One place to rate everything also gives compliance reviewers a clear record of how each title is classified.
Every ad campaign can carry its own maturity range, so ads stay as age-appropriate as your content. In Ads Manager you set a From and To Maturity Level on the campaign, for example All to 7 for a family sponsor, alongside its countries, categories and apps. That keeps each campaign inside the age range it was made for. For ads stitched into live and on-demand streams on the server, see server-side ad insertion (SSAI).
Parental controls work best alongside the other access settings. Restrict Signup limits new accounts to people you approve, Geo-Fencing blocks or allows a title country by country, and Metadata Management keeps the rest of each title's details consistent. User Management lets you find, deactivate or ban any account. Together, these settings decide who can join your service and what each viewer can watch.
